Maize Grit Plant
An industrial maize grit plant starts with the receiving, weighing, and quality inspection of maize, followed by pre-cleaning to remove dust, straw, stones, metal particles, and other impurities. The cleaned maize is then graded and conditioned with controlled moisture before degermination, where the germ and outer bran are separated from the maize kernel. The degerminated material is passed through milling and grinding machines to produce maize grits of different particle sizes, while bran, germ, flour, and other by-products are separated through aspiration, sieving, and plansifting.
The grits are then graded, purified, and passed through final cleaning and quality-control systems before being weighed, packed, stored, and dispatched. Conveyors, elevators, dust-collection systems, and automated controls are integrated throughout the plant for efficient and hygienic operation.

After quality inspection and multi-stage pre-cleaning, maize kernels undergo controlled moisture conditioning and degermination to peel the bran and germ.
